WORLD PREMIERE - CAST AND CREW IN ATTENDANCE!

Spencer is a narcoleptic pharmacist who's slept through a decade. The rut he's in is starting to look an awful lot like a grave. And so Spencer goes looking for excitement. He tries drug dealing, but who would have guessed? It's so boring it's funny. But that doesn't matter because before he can really get going, he meets Alice, and Alice is more than enough to keep him awake. But as is always the way with movies about girls and guns and drugs, these sorts of things always have a way of developing some very serious complications...

Shot right here in good ol' Edmonton, Alberta, The Pharmacist is a wild and funny crime caper, loaded with fine performances by the cream of the crop of local acting talent. We could not be more proud to unleash this WORLD PREMIERE screening to an appreciative EIFF audience, so come out and see some great local filmmaking - no prescription required.

The opening credit sequences were amazingly well done & shot; even with some foreshadowing with the characters (eg. Poison bottle with name of antagonist) Very well acted and for a newcomer, Corey Loranger carried the role of Spencer very well. I thought the script was tight & very well written - although, I would have liked an alternate ending. I disagree with smokesix review as to the subtitles - I liked the font effects, it meant my eye was not distracted from the shot by looking downwards all the time. Characters were good, well-developed - and good continuity. I really enjoyed the overall changes in colors with the dream sequences - I thought it spoke clearly to the protagonist's struggle to feel 'alive' throughout the film. Excellent chemistry between the main love interests as well. Overall, I think this is destined to be a Canadian "sleeper' hit!
