OH CANADA!Screenwriter Ken Scott makes his directorial debut with his offbeat new comedy, Les doigts croches.
It all starts in early-1960s Montreal, where ringleader Charles Favreau (the great Roy Dupuis) brings together five bumbling gangsters from the Montreal’s east end to pull off what Charles is convinced will be the crime of the century. Needless to say, their bank heist goes seriously wrong, and, before you can say “Ocean’s 11,” five of the six are behind bars. As for the sixth member of our gang? Well, he’s eluded the authorities and scooted off to Spain – with the $2 million worth of loot, to boot.
This terrifically entertaining film is another forum for the smart, low-key humour that made Ken Scott’s script for La Grande séduction (2003) so memorable.
