EXCLUSIVE WESTERN CANADA PREMIERE SCREENINGShock jock Grant Mazzy has, once again, been kicked-off the Big City airwaves, and now the only job he can get is the early morning show at CLSY Radio in Pontypool, Ontario, broadcasting from the basement of the small town’s only church.
What begins as another boring day of school bus cancellations - due to yet another massive snowstorm - quickly turns deadly when reports start piling in of people developing strange speech patterns and evoking horrendous acts of violence. But... there’s nothing coming in on the news wires. Is this really happening?
Before long, Grant and the small staff at CLSY find themselves trapped in the radio station as they discover that the source of this insane behaviour is beyond anything they could ever imagine.
One of Canada's most respected filmmakers (and EIFF favorite), Bruce McDonald, takes a detour off of Highway 61 and into the macabre, with this stunningly well-acted and provocative thriller. It’s unlike anything he's done before, and seriously unlike any other thriller we've seen in years.
EIFF is thrilled to present this exclusive Western Canada premiere screening, with director Bruce McDonald in attendance to answer all of your questions (and trust us - you WILL want to talk about this one afterwards!).
In attendance: Director Bruce McDonald and STAR Stephen McHattie, with a special post-screening Q&A hosted by Todd Babiak.
This EXCLUSIVE Western Canada Premiere is made possible with the generous support of Super Channel and Maple Pictures!
Pontypool is in competition for the Citytv Canadian Feature Award, chosen by YOU – the audience. Vote online until noon on Saturday, October 4th at www.citytv.com.
