With
Mémoires affectives, Francis Leclerc announced his arrival as a new voice in Quebecois cinema. For his follow-up feature, Leclerc has elected to give us a baseball movie, albeit one set in Quebec. In 1969. The result is an absolute charmer of a film that travels some of the same ground as EIFF favorite
C.R.A.Z.Y. (the costumes, the set design, the Quiet Revolution…), but with one major difference: it ends with a climactic baseball match!
The kids deliver some really winning performances here, and Quebec superstars Roy Dupuis and Patrice Robitaille add their always-able support. The result is a definite home run.
